Otori Cave

Otori Cave is quite possibly the greatest dungeon ever created. First making its debut in Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, the layout and aesthetic is just THAT good and was the sole reason anyone liked the game on launch, that due to popular fan demand it appears in every game since, with the same enemy placements and treasure locations.

You WILL play Otori Cave for the 27th time and you WILL enjoy it.

History

It's based on the caves from the first Neptunia. When Gamindustri stopped being floating landmasses, these caves merged up and became known under numerous names, such as Otori Cave, Rud Arms Sewer South, Wanderer's Cave, Mines, and probably others. I can't be arsed to boot the game up and actually look right now.

Even other dimensions such as the Zero Dimension have variants, eg Daytona Cave, which contains Fenrirs and some other big fucker at the start that are a pain in the cunt to walk past without getting reverse attacked. This suggests Otori Cave's physical presence can actually implant itself whenever the player enters certain dungeons, but it can't determine on its own the enemy/item pool. Otori Cave has conscience, but lacks full control over itself. It is by definition an NPC.

Some people have also suggested that Minecraft 1.7.2's world generation code had an impact due to it making caves smaller/more preictable than 1.6.4, but this is mostly baseless nonsense.

Music

The music in this dungeon subsequently has become part of the set of Kenji Kaneko tracks that reappear in every game, much to the delight of dopamine depleted minds. The queer communists even turned a blind eye to the fact that Kaneko wasn't paid for use of his work in subsequent appearances, though they did scream about neglection of Track 43, probably because you can't dance like a bellend on heavy drugs to Otori Cave's song.

Trivia

  • In the Korean versions, most of the textures are replaced by lowres images of Supreme Leader, Kim Jong Un.
  • The "Mines" variant in Victory cannot be accessed if your PSN account was made in the UK, since Margaret Thatcher had already shut it down before you got there.
